Crate Training a Bulldog Puppy
Many people will let you know how they feel about crate training immediately; most will tell you they think it is very cruel. But in reality it protects your household and also insures your puppy’s safety. One of the most important things to remember is that it is your job to make the crate a place that your puppy will like. Never use the crate as punishment. Always place your puppy’s blanket and favorite toy inside.
When you first place your puppy in the crate it is wise to give him a treat. Depending on the weather, placing either a quilt or sheet over the crate makes it more secure for the puppy. Leave the door side uncovered so the puppy can see out. Crate training your puppy also helps in the housebreaking experience. As soon as your puppy wakes from a nap take him outside to potty. Then feed your puppy and within 15 minutes back out for another potty break. Play with your puppy for an hour or so, then back outside for another potty break before nap time. By repeating these steps in no time you will have your puppy trained. Always praise your puppy when they have done their potty thing. You may also reward him with treats. It will be 10 or 12 weeks before the puppy fully understands this training. Continual training will make the puppy understand the difference between inside and out. It will take time but eventually your puppy will catch on. Good Luck!
