Picking a Bulldog Puppy

Purchasing a puppy means you are ready to make a full time commitment. Make sure this is something that you are ready for. Then you will need to make sure that the bulldog is the best breed for your family. Every breed has certain personality traits and these traits can be greatly influenced by the way he is raised and trained. There are some personality tests that reveal the temperament of the puppy before you purchase it.

These tests start with the sociability test. Place the puppy on the floor and move away, clap your hands he should follow you tail held high. Then check to see if the puppy will follow you without calling him. The puppy should follow you for the main reason being curiosity. Next place your puppy on his back and place your hand on his chest, this will allow you to know how he will react to constraint. Every puppy will react differently.

Resisting at first then calming down is a step in the right direction. Check the puppy to see how he accepts dominance. Pet the puppy’s head, then his neck and finally his back. His reaction will let you know how well he will understand that you must have the upper hand. The last test is the elevation test. Lift the puppy from the floor, you should use both hands and place them around his breast. You will want a puppy that does not try to bit you. But even with any of these personality traits whether good or bad, training is the factor that will develop the traits that make an obedient puppy turn into an obedient dog.
